History of The Ruston Chapel
The Ruston Chapel is a premier wedding and event venue in Pierce County. Located just blocks from the beautiful Point Defiance park, the chapel has over a century of rich history and prominence in the north Tacoma city of Ruston.
Saint James English Evangelical Lutheran Church was dedicated on March 9, 1902. It was also known as the Smelter Church, First Swedish Lutheran Church, Ruston Chapel, and Ruston Lutheran Church.
In 1975, it became an antique shop called Anchor Antiques. In 2003, it became Ruston Blessings Antique Store.
Since 2006, it has been a wedding chapel and event venue, and in 2012 it took back its original name The Ruston Chapel.
The current owner, Debra Nozawa, has worked in the wedding, event, and catering industry since 2004. She is the proud mother of three daughters who work alongside her and within the industry. One of her daughters is an Executive Pastry Chef of wedding cakes. The Ruston Chapel is truly family-owned and operated.
